This time, Liang Yixiao noticed the White Fox’s little movement.
He stared at the White Fox thoughtfully.
As if sensing his gaze, the White Fox shifted slightly, then suddenly curled into a ball.
Over on Yunyang’s side, Yun Shaoqi was still only half-convinced by his sister’s words.
There was a reason for that. Before this, Yangyang had seemed to be under some kind of spell, shouting every day that she would marry only that idiot from the Wei family as her beast-husband. No amount of persuasion had worked.
Now, these five were better than that bastard from the Wei family in every possible way, and they even knew how to compete for her favor. Who could say they wouldn’t win Yangyang over and make her stop taking new beast-husbands?
No. While Yangyang was still on T01, he had to introduce a few more potential beast-husbands to his sister!
In a sense, Yun Shaoqi and You Lu had reached the same conclusion.
Yunyang had no idea what Yun Shaoqi was thinking. After catching up with everyone, she turned to Xuan Yu. “Xuan Yu, I’m a little tired.”
Xuan Yu had just started to move when Yun Shaoqi shot to his feet and lifted Yunyang off the sofa.
“You used up quite a bit of mental power just now, didn’t you? Your brother will take you to your room to rest.”
It was purely an ingrained habit for Yun Shaoqi.
Back when he was still living at home, he and his brothers had always taken turns looking after Yunyang this way.
So the moment he heard her say she was tired, he reacted instinctively.
Although he quickly realized that what he was doing now was somewhat inappropriate, Yun Shaoqi still didn’t put her down. He carried Yunyang toward the bedroom.
Yunyang: “…”
Brother. Her actual brother.
That was not what she meant at all!
She shot Xuan Yu a meaningful look.
After receiving Yunyang’s signal, Xuan Yu immediately stepped forward and took her into his arms.
“Brother-in-law, let me take care of our female master’s rest.”
“That works too.” Yun Shaoqi didn’t object.
Since Xuan Yu was one of Yangyang’s beast-husbands, taking care of her was only proper.
The return trip took just as long as the journey there—only an hour, which wasn’t nearly enough time for any of her beast-husbands. So Yunyang merely allowed herself a little indulgence.
She was perfectly comfortable, but poor Xuan Yu was left burning with desire. He had no choice but to use his powers to “cool himself down.”
After the spacecraft landed on T01, Yun Shaoqi said goodbye to Yunyang before following several members of the First Army to report back to Leo.
Once Yunyang stepped off the spacecraft, she sent You Lu a message, then returned home with her five beast-husbands.
It was just past noon. She could handle the afternoon’s purification work on her own; she only needed to recover some mental power first.
Xuan Yu had also experienced the sensation of entering a mental form.
Once he had gotten a taste of it, he wanted to continue, but Yunyang withdrew her mental power without the slightest mercy.
Xuan Yu opened his eyes. At some point, a pair of wolf ears had appeared on his head, and they drooped dejectedly.
Yunyang raised a hand and gave one of the wolf ears a pinch. “You’re sleeping with me tonight.”
Xuan Yu’s mood instantly soared from the bottom of the abyss to the heavens.
When it was nearly time, Yunyang set out for the central control tower.
·
During the day, the main force members protected Yunyang. At night, it was the reserve members of the guard unit who took over.
That was when Liang Yixiao finally had some private time.
He carried the White Fox back to his dormitory. Taking advantage of the fact that the others had yet to return, he began lecturing the White Fox.
“I know you weren’t exiled to the Desolate Planet because you did something wrong, but we foxes need to know our place.”
“Lady Yunyang is one of the three most honored ladies in the Federation. She’s beautiful, so it’s only natural that you couldn’t resist being drawn to her.”
“But you were born without any powers, and you don’t have the ability to protect Lady Yunyang.”
“So give up. Lady Yunyang is not someone you can dream of.”
His final words carried a hint of warning.
A powerless little thing like him actually dared to dream of Lady Yunyang? Wasn’t he afraid of being beaten to death by her five beast-husbands?
The White Fox raised its head and silently gazed at its fellow fox.
Of course he knew that such a noble female was not someone he could covet.
A useless creature like him would be defiling her just by looking at her.
He simply couldn’t control the way he was drawn to her.
In this world, was there any male who wouldn’t be attracted to her?
The White Fox didn’t think so.
He gave a low whine to show that he understood.
Liang Yixiao was reassured. He took out several packets of nutrient drink, tore them open, and poured them into a bowl before pushing it in front of the White Fox.
“You must have been starving on the Desolate Planet. Come and try this. It’s the colorful nutrient drink specially supplied to the honored ladies!”
The White Fox twitched its nose, leaned forward, and gave it a tentative lick.
The sweet, cloying mango flavor exploded across its tongue. Its ears trembled, and it wanted to spit it out.
But seeing the expectant look in its fellow fox’s eyes, it swallowed it in the end.
The White Fox drank the entire bowl of nutrient drink in agony. By the end, it really couldn’t take another sip, so it pushed the remaining half-bowl back toward Liang Yixiao.
“You’re full?”
The White Fox nodded.
Liang Yixiao put the remaining half-bowl into his spatial button. “Then I’ll save it for you to eat tomorrow.”
The White Fox: “…”
It wanted to say something, but in the end, it remained silent.
It had been rescued. What right did it have to make demands?
Being alive was enough.
After putting away the remaining nutrient drink, Liang Yixiao patted the White Fox on the head. “By the way, do you have a name?”
The White Fox shook its head.
Liang Yixiao immediately looked at it sympathetically. What a poor little thing—not even a name.
“Then I’ll give you one.”
Liang Yixiao racked his brains for quite some time, but eventually he silently opened his optical computer and searched through countless options.
The White Fox watched him quietly.
Liang Yixiao went back and forth between one name and another before finally settling on a good one.
“How about Leonardo?”
According to the information he found on his optical computer, the name symbolized strength like a lion.
Although this little White Fox had no powers, a fox ought to have some ambition.
Liang Yixiao thought the name suited him quite well.
The White Fox twitched its ears and nodded.
Liang Yixiao immediately changed the subject. “Leonardo, how are your wounds? Do you need another nutrient injection?”
The White Fox indicated that it didn’t.
Liang Yixiao glanced at the dirt and blood covering its body. “Then I’ll give you a bath. If you stay this dirty, people will mistake you for a stray beast.”
The White Fox, which was originally a stray beast, silently nodded.
Liang Yixiao got to work at once.
He filled a basin with water and carefully washed the dirt from the White Fox’s fur before putting it into a dryer.
It was specially designed for furry beastfolk, and it did an excellent job.
Five minutes later, the filthy White Fox had become fluffy and soft.
Only then did Liang Yixiao notice that this fellow fox’s ears weren’t the only things tipped with green. All four paws had a faint green tinge as well.
This little thing… didn’t look like a purebred White Fox.
Liang Yixiao didn’t dwell on it.
Purebred or not, as long as it was a fox, it was his fellow fox.
“All right. From now on, you’ll live here with me.”
“And don’t go running off. This is a frontier planet closest to the Insect Planet. If you run into the insectoids out there, I won’t be able to get to you in time to save you.”
The White Fox gave a small bark.
“You want to meet the commander?”
Liang Yixiao scratched his head. Their commander really was the idol of every male in the Federation—even this stray beast from the Desolate Planet had heard of him.
“All right. When I’m off duty during the day, I’ll take you to see him.”
