“Doesn’t the Black Jiao Tribe have flyships too? Why does Pei Wenye look as if he’s never seen one before?”
Nuo Xiao couldn’t understand it.
Pei Wenye was about to continue questioning him when Yunyang pressed down on his hand. “Nuo Xiao, now that the flyship has been repaired, can we leave this place?”
“Of course.” Nuo Xiao nodded quickly. “Lady Yunyang, if you wish, we can leave today.”
“But I’ve been away for too long. I need to return to the tribe first. After that, I can take you and Brother Wenye back to your tribe.”
That was exactly what Yunyang wanted.
Not to mention that she and Pei Wenye didn’t actually have a tribe, even if they did, she still wanted to visit the Snowy Owl Tribe first and confirm whether they had truly traveled back more than two thousand years to the Federation.
Nuo Xiao breathed a sigh of relief. “Lady Yunyang, when would you like to set out?”
Yunyang thought for a moment. “This afternoon. Come have lunch with us first.”
With Pei Wenye there, she had been living quite comfortably on this abandoned planet, but the environment was ultimately unsuitable for a long-term stay.
Yunyang was already eager to leave.
Neither Pei Wenye nor Nuo Xiao had any objections. The three of them soon left the flyship and walked toward the residential pod nearby.
As usual, Pei Wenye prepared lunch. Nuo Xiao wasn’t accustomed to freeloading, but he really didn’t know how to use the cooking appliances in the residential pod, so all he could do was help wash vegetables and cut meat.
There were actually specialized machines for those tasks, but Nuo Xiao looked so enthusiastic that Pei Wenye simply let him do as he pleased.
Besides, having this Snowy Owl help under his watchful eye was better than letting him spend time alone with his female mate.
With someone to lend a hand, cooking did indeed go faster. In less than half an hour, a lunch of four dishes and a soup was ready.
Thinking that they would be leaving this desolate planet that afternoon, Yunyang was rather excited and ate a little more than usual.
As a result, after lunch she had no desire to move at all and became completely languid.
Nuo Xiao considerately suggested, “Lady Yunyang, why don’t you rest for a while? We can leave later.”
Yunyang lifted her eyelids and shook her head slowly. “No need. Go pack your things. We’ll leave shortly.”
Nuo Xiao was actually anxious to return to the tribe as well. He had been gone for so many days that the Saintess and the chief must have been worried sick.
So he didn’t argue with Yunyang. He nodded quickly and returned to his own residential pod to pack.
There was nothing much for Yunyang to pack. She put the larger items into her spatial button, and the rest could be folded up together with the residential pod.
Since Pei Wenye was alone, he finished packing in less than ten minutes.
Nuo Xiao’s things were even simpler. Everything he owned had been burned away when his flyship crashed. He didn’t even have a single intact piece of clothing left.
So he merely walked around his residential pod once before standing outside to wait for Yunyang and Pei Wenye.
Guessing that Nuo Xiao probably didn’t know how to store a residential pod, Pei Wenye folded up his own pod and then helped Nuo Xiao pack away his as well.
Watching with his own eyes as a one-bedroom residential pod transformed into a metal ball the size of a fist, Nuo Xiao was once again utterly stunned.
Pei Wenye stuffed the folded residential pod into his hands, then picked Yunyang up and carried her toward the flyship.
Nuo Xiao hurried after them.
On the abandoned planet, the flyship slowly powered up and began its first jump.
Pei Wenye and Yunyang sat in the lounge. He held the snacks Xuan Yu had prepared, feeding Yunyang while observing Nuo Xiao’s movements.
Nuo Xiao’s piloting skills were highly polished. He was in no way inferior to the beastmen who had received professional training at the Interstellar Male Academy.
But how could someone like that have never even seen a folding residential pod?
There were simply too many mysteries surrounding Nuo Xiao. They would probably have to reach the Snowy Owl Tribe before he and his female mate had any chance of learning the reason.
The 53rd-generation warship was much slower than the ships currently used by the Federation, and the distance covered by each jump was shorter as well.
Only after two days did the flyship land on a white planet.
Through the flyship’s windows, Yunyang saw an endless snowfield.
Looking at the familiar snowfield, Nuo Xiao excitedly introduced it. “Lady Yunyang, Brother Wenye, this is Snow Star. Our Snowy Owl Tribe is located on this planet.”
“Besides our Snowy Owl Tribe, the Frost Wolf Tribe is also on this planet. However, our relationship with them isn’t very good.”
Hearing the familiar name, Yunyang and Pei Wenye both froze.
With his back to them, Nuo Xiao failed to notice their reactions and continued, “The Frost Wolf Tribe has always wanted to monopolize Snow Star, and they’ve harassed our Snowy Owl Tribe more than once.”
“Of course, those stupid wolves who can only run around on the ground can’t defeat us.”
At that, Nuo Xiao wore a smug expression.
After confirming the flyship’s landing position, he piloted it forward for a short distance.
The flat snowfield disappeared. What entered Yunyang’s view next was the high ground where the Snowy Owl Tribe was located.
Before they even reached the high ground, she saw Snowy Owls circling in the air.
Nuo Xiao piloted the flyship onto the high ground and landed smoothly in the open space of the Snowy Owl Tribe.
Upon seeing the familiar flyship, the Snowy Owls lingering nearby gathered around one after another. They then landed and transformed into human form.
“Nuo Xiao’s back! Nuo Xiao’s back!”
“I’m going to inform the Saintess and the chief!”
“Nuo Xiao, why were you gone for so long this time? Did something happen to you?”
“Nuo Xiao, did you repair the flyship again? I told you ages ago that you needed to fix it before setting out. It isn’t safe otherwise.”
The flyship’s hatch hadn’t even fully opened before voices rang out one after another. It was clear that Nuo Xiao was well liked within the tribe.
Nuo Xiao pressed the safety button inside the flyship and left the cockpit as quickly as possible. He told the gathered tribesmen about everything he had experienced.
Upon hearing his story, the tribesmen anxiously looked him over.
“All right, stop looking at me like that. Can’t you see I’m perfectly fine?”
While catching up with his tribesmen, Nuo Xiao didn’t forget about Yunyang and Pei Wenye, who were still aboard the flyship. He quickly added, “The reason I was able to return alive this time is all thanks to Lady Yunyang and Brother Wenye.”
Lady?
The Snowy Owls all seized on that key word.
The male closest to Nuo Xiao teased him, “Nuo Xiao, have you found yourself a female mate?”
Nuo Xiao certainly wished that were true. These past few days, no matter how much he tried to court Lady Yunyang, she had only looked at him a few more times and had shown no intention of taking him as a beast husband.
So he shook his head at his tribesmen. “I’m not worthy of Lady Yunyang. Besides, Lady Yunyang already has a beast husband.”
The tribesmen all widened their eyes.
Not worthy?
Nuo Xiao was an SSS-ranked ability user. In any other tribe, he would have been one of the males with the greatest chance of becoming the Saintess’s beast husband!
Just how extraordinary was this Lady Yunyang, to make Nuo Xiao willingly say something like that?
While everyone was still shocked and puzzled, Yunyang and Pei Wenye happened to walk down from the flyship.
