Because his contamination level was still unstable, and because Wu Zhengming wanted him to rest, Cang Zhuonian would have to remain in the Purification Tower for at least half a month.
When Jenkins found him, Cang Zhuonian was lying on the floor resting.
“Brat, stop sleeping! Something happened to Lady Yunyang!”
At the first part of his shout, Cang Zhuonian lazily lifted an eyelid, intending to pretend he hadn’t heard.
But when he heard the second half, the qilin on the floor immediately sprang to his feet. In barely a second, he had transformed into human form and appeared in front of Jenkins.

The qilin’s golden eyes were far too distinctive. Even though she had never seen Cang Zhuonian in human form before, Yunyang recognized him at once.
She felt slightly more at ease.
With an SSS-rank ability user present, even a rank-nine insectoid would be nothing to fear.
What was more, the qilin’s ability was group defense.
As she thought this, Yunyang had already entered the Purification Tower.
The instant she stepped through the doors, Jenkins turned back and gave Cang Zhuonian a meaningful look.

Inside the flyer, the main pilot seemed to sense the fluctuations of Cang Zhuonian’s ability. His brown pupils briefly turned green.

The two of them had no choice but to crawl out of the wreckage.
The copilot looked toward Yunyang, who had not yet gone far, and shouted for help. “Lady Yunyang, save—”
Before he could finish, the towering mecha grabbed him and lifted him into the air.
The mecha held the copilot in one hand while its other hand transformed into a small light-energy gun, aiming directly at the copilot’s heart.
“Are you coming out yourself, or do I have to dig you out?”
Cang Zhuonian had seen too much of this on the battlefield. Although he felt some sympathy for his two fellow soldiers, he would not lose his head at a time like this.
There was no chance of survival for beastfolk who had been parasitized by insectoids.

The two pilots exchanged a glance. Their pupils were now completely green.
The main pilot’s limbs suddenly began to twist. Rather than foolishly attacking Cang Zhuonian’s mecha, it turned its attention to Yunyang inside the Purification Tower.
It shot toward the Purification Tower like a cannonball.
